Injection Molding Engineer

Mission: 

At Itera Mobility Engineering, we are searching for candidates to fill future needs within the automotive business in the United States. The candidate will work on a Project for one of the main manufacturers in the automotive sector. The Injection Molding Engineer will help to ensure the efficiency and quality of injection molding processes through rigorous standards and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain 5S Standards, shift scrap goals, tool change goals, and OEE goals. 
  • Complete yield improvement projects 
  • Monitor and report issues with injection molds, and make recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability, and tooling history. 
  • Develop and maintain process documentation ensuring that processes and procedures are clearly stated and understandable for all employees. 
  • Learn, apply, and retain new techniques, concepts, and procedures required for continuously improving products, processes, services, deliveries, and overall quality. 
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems to reduce productivity losses. 
  • Implements long-term corrective actions to avoid repeat issues. 
  • Documents and reports machine performance, corrective actions, maintenance activities, parts utilization, and inventory to achieve efficiency and regular operation of equipment. 
  • Provides guidance to the development of facilities and equipment maintenance plans, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs. 
  • Utilizes 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, and other problem-solving tools to identify and eliminate root causes. 
  • Coordinates preventative and predictive maintenance with maintenance technical group and production planning. 
  • Maintain flexibility to be able to move from work area to work area in order to meet the delivery expectations of the customers and the productivity goals for the plant. 
  • Direct communication with molding supervisors, process engineers, tooling department and maintenance supervisors. 
  • Valuable knowledge in scientific injection molding. 
  • Must be able to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshooting current production issues. 
  • Work with equipment and material supplies to resolve machine and material availability. 
  • Facilitate and support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts. 

Qualification & Experience: 

  • Bachelor degree in Plastics, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering is required. 
  • At least 3-5 years of practical work experience in an Injection Molding Operation (Automotive). 
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, troubleshooting waste in injection molding processing, and tooling in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality. 
  • A continuous improvement mindset, along with a working knowledge of process improvement methodologies, such as LEAN. 
  • An understanding of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) is a plus. 
  • Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation. 
  • Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. 
  • Ability to lead others, responsibility may include indirect supervision of process technicians. 
  • English Language skills required.  
  • Should reside near Morehead, Kentucky. 
  • Must have a valid work permit or visa; the company is not currently offering sponsorship.
